The Brief

Building on the success of Glass's initial re-design of the Graduate Recruitment website in 2006, the brief stayed very similar. Essentially we were asked to re-vamp the website and continue to differentiate the practice from the other 'Magic Circle' law firms - giving future recruits a real sense of the firm's values and personality, whilst presenting genuine reasons for students to regularly revisit the site.

The Solution

Following feedback from the users, the re-design incorporated striking saturated colour palettes to brighten the site, with a streamlined information architecture and a fresh photo shoot to showcase the new London headquarters.

The candid nature of the Blogs, and the sense of 'real people doing real jobs', was further built upon and a series of introductory videos were filmed for each of the new Bloggers. The editorial features such as London Life - which gave a sense of what it is like to be a young lawyer in London - were also updated with current information from the trainee lawyers themselves. An additional feature, a new light-hearted 'Bizarre Laws' flash game, was also developed to connect with the offline campaign.

The Result

  • EpiServer - the scaleable, flexible .Net architecture Content Management System allows A&O to manage the content, news and promotions themselves via an easy to use WYSIWYG editor.
  • Editorial features such as London Life and Blogs continue to facilitate retention and repeat visits. The blogs are ever popular, not just with the students, but with the employees who enjoy catching up with their colleagues' adventures.
  • The site earned a 'Webby Honoree' in 2007 and it is hoped that the re-designed site, with its additional features, refreshed editorial, stunning imagery and striking design, will similarly win prestigious awards in the Graduate Recruitment arena.
